Linking Child Care to Problem Behavior

New study raises some interesting findings:

A study conducted by the National Institutes of Health, which tracked 1,364 children since birth, concluded that the more time that children spent in child care, the more likely their sixth grade teachers were to report problem behavior. According to the study, child care was defined as care by anyone other than the child’s mother who was regularly scheduled for at least 10 hours per week. I wish it was that easy to blame problem behavior on child care alone.

“In the study, child care was defined as care by anyone other than the child’s mother who was regularly scheduled for at least 10 hours per week.”

I know you were just quoting the article which was possibly just quoting the study, but why “child’s mother” and not “child’s parents”? Those damn mothers, causing their children all sorts of behavioral problems - things were better in the 1950s, right?
