Risk of Preeclampsia May be Raised by Low Vitamin D Levels

According to a report in the September issue of The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, low Vitamin D levels during early pregnancy appears to be an independent risk factor for preeclampsia.

The findings suggest that “Vitamin D supplementation in early pregnancy should be explored as a safe and effective means of preventing preeclampsia and promoting neonatal well-being.”
